Overview

Supporting medical research and addressing specific healthcare needs. Seattle Foundation administers the Medical Funds program to support: medical research of potential benefit to the community, OR to address specific healthcare needs of low income children. Medical Research Proposals Highest priority will be given to specific equipment requests for research projects working on cancer, cardio-pulmonary, multiple sclerosis (or “kindred diseases”), arthritis or autoimmune or inflammatory disease more broadly, and diabetes.Research projects that don’t specifically focus on one of these conditions but that could potentially impact their diagnosis or treatment are also encouraged to apply, including basic research. Healthcare Needs of Low Income Children Highest priority will be given to capital campaigns, facility renovation projects, or specific equipment needs in support of the healthcare needs of low income children.

Eligibility

All applicant organizations must be located primarily in King County and qualify as tax-exempt public charity under Section 501(c)(3) of the IRS Code.To be eligible for this grant, your organization’s Org Profile Form must be complete and up-to-date (within the past five months). For larger research organizations (University of Washington, Seattle Children’s, Virginia Mason, etc.), please ask your organization’s Foundation (or Development) office and request that they complete the Org Profile Form for your entire organization. Organizations that provide healthcare services to low income children should also fill out the Org Profile Form for the entire organization.
