Our Mission Bringing History to Light Through the Science of Shipwrecks The Institute of Nautical Archaeology is committed to locating, excavating, recording, preserving, and publishing shipwrecks and other archaeological sites of maritime significance all over the world. The INA Discovery Fund Suitable topics might include the discovery of a shipwreck during survey, the discovery of an artifact/assemblage during excavation, or the discovery of compelling data during the course of research and analysis. Funding requests may range from $5,000 to $25,000; INA may choose to award a single $25,000 grant or several smaller grants.Eligibility

The application is open to all scholars.Directors of INA-approved projects must complete a Dive Plan Application and have it approved by the INA Diving Safety Officer, no less than three months before the start of diving. Any funds awarded will not be released until this requirement is met.Directors of approved INA projects are required to submit articles for publication in the INA Quarterly and to provide content (text, images, maps, videos, recordings, etc.) for project pages on the INA website.Acceptable expenditures for INA-awarded funds include:travel and transportation, services, food and lodging, supplies, equipment, etc.Current recipients of INA funding must ensure that all existing reporting, financial, and diving safety obligations have been met before a new funding proposal will be considered.Focus Areas & Funding Uses
