The George and Ann Bass Endowment for Nautical Archaeology Publications Grant

The George and Ann Bass Endowment for Nautical Archaeology Publications, established in 2018 by the Institute of Nautical Archaeology, provides funding of up to $25,000 annually to support the publication of archaeological research. This endowment specifically aids the preparation of manuscripts for book-length publications, ensuring the integrity and ethical standards of nautical archaeology. Preference is given to projects linked to INA-sponsored excavations, fostering the completion of significant scholarly work.

The George and Ann Bass Endowment for Nautical Archaeology Publications, established in 2018, honors two of INA’s Founders and supports a cause that is very close to their hearts: the final publication of archaeological material excavated by INA. This Endowment provides up to $25,000/year in grant money to one or two worthy applicant(s).
Awards are intended to support the preparation of manuscripts leading to book-length publications of archaeological research conducted legally and ethically.

Eligibility

Applicants may seek funding for expenses such as: faculty leave to support dedicated writing time travel to conduct relevant research leading directly to publication manuscript preparation artifact photography, illustrations, the hiring of necessary support staffsubvention indexing, color plates, expanded site plans, etc.Applicants must ensure that obligations of previous INA funding have been met before a new INA funding proposal will be considered.
