Summary

The Genetics Society offers Junior Scientist Conference Grants to support PhD students and postdoctoral members in attending genetics conferences. Established in 1919, the Society promotes genetic research and understanding. Grants cover travel, accommodation, and registration costs for eligible members. The program includes three streams: participation in Genetics Society events, non-Society meetings, and virtual conferences. A focus on presenting research through posters or talks is essential, ensuring members contribute to the field's advancement.

Overview

About Us The Genetics Society, established in 1919 by William Bateson and Edith Rebecca Saunders, is one of the world's oldest learned societies dedicated to the study of genetics. Its mission is to promote research, teaching, and public understanding of genetics. The Society organises scientific meetings, supports various special interest groups, and publishes the journal Heredity. Membership includes over 2,000 professionals, encompassing researchers, educators, and students. Through grants, lectures, and public engagement initiatives, the Genetics Society fosters advancements in genetic science and its applications. Junior Scientist Conference Grants The purpose of these grants is to support the attendance of Genetics Society “junior scientist” members at conferences on research in Genetics. The scheme has three main streams: (A) to support attendance at meetings organised directly by the Genetics Society or sponsored by the Society as a Special Interest Group (SIG);(B) to support attendance at non-Genetics Society meetings; and (C) to support attendance of virtual conferences. (B) Travel, accommodation and registration cost at other (non-Genetics Society) meetings. Applicants for a prestigious Adelphi Genetics Forum co-sponsored award should request between £500 and £750 in support and explain how their work conforms to the mission of the Adelphi Genetics Forum. The Adelphi Genetics Forum co-sponsored award is only open to registered PhD student members who will take up the award before their PhD graduation date. If unsuccessful for the Adelphi Genetics Forum co-sponsored award, applications will be automatically considered for a standard stream B grant for which a maximum of £500 can be awarded.
