    Background:
    The WASH-RAG Professional Services Committee, through a generous grant from the Wallace Genetics Foundation, can provide grants to cover the cost of required "front-end" technical assessments that a Global Grant cannot fund. This program supports the technical due diligence necessary for successful project planning.

    Purpose:
    To fund technical assessments and expert evaluations needed before a Global Grant can proceed. These assessments help meet project criteria, satisfy local authority requirements, and ensure projects are technically sound and viable.

    Eligibility:

  • Membership requirement: At least one member from the Host Club must be a WASH-RAG member

  • Membership requirement: At least one member of the International Sponsor Club must be a WASH-RAG member

  • Non-members can sign up to become eligible

  • Projects must fall within the WASH Area of Focus

  • Applicable to proposed Global Grants
  • What They Fund:

  • Hydrogeologic studies

  • Test drilling

  • Engineering design reports

  • Site surveys and feasibility studies

  • Expert contractor evaluations

  • Technical assessments by qualified professionals
  • What They Don't Fund:

  • Community assessments

  • Projects outside WASH Area of Focus

  • Applications from non-WASH-RAG members
  • Process:
    1. Host club(s) with support from International Sponsor Club(s) prepares funding request
    2. Request includes detailed justification and expert credentials
    3. Application reviewed for appropriateness and completeness
    4. If approved, Coordinator monitors work and deliverables
    5. Funds released upon approval and completion of work as specified

    Application Process

    Submission:
    1. Complete the Technical Assessment Grant application form available on WASH-RAG website
    2. Click the submission link: "CLICK HERE AND COMPLETE THIS FORM for Technical Assessment Grant"
    3. Do not submit via email

    Required Information in Application:
    1. Funding Status: What funds have been raised so far
    2. Justification: Why the funds are needed (e.g., to meet criteria, to satisfy local authority requirements)
    3. Expense Details: What specific expenses will be covered (e.g., engineering design, survey, contract for test drilling, etc.)
    4. Expert Selection: Why and how this contractor or expert was selected
    5. Timeline: When will funds be needed and when will work be done
    6. Expected Outputs: What will be the output of the work (e.g., report, drawings, tests, photos, survey)
    7. Expert Documentation: Provide a CV-resume and proposal from the expert

    Review Process:
    1. Application reviewed initially to determine if it is appropriate and complete
    2. Assigned to a member of the Cadre of Technical Advisors for further review
    3. Cadre member reviews for:
    - Elements outlined in community assessment
    - Technical issues and concerns
    - Compliance with Rotary Global Grant requirements
    4. If approved, a Coordinator works with the club to monitor work and outputs

    Coordinator Role (if approved):

  • Monitor the work carried out as proposed

  • Ensure outputs are delivered as specified in the application

  • Oversee compliance with project specifications
