Geographic Scope: San Diego County, California; recipients must teach in San Diego Unified School District

Focus Areas: Teacher education and workforce development

Award Details:

• Multiyear scholarships ranging from $14,000 to $17,000
• Awards renew annually if student makes satisfactory progress toward undergraduate degree

Eligibility Requirements:

• Must be a high school senior in San Diego Unified School District (including charter schools)
• Plan to pursue a career in teaching
• Plan to attend a community college or four-year college in San Diego County
• Must agree to teach at a San Diego Unified School District campus after completing degree
• Must demonstrate financial need

Mission: Develop the talents of home-grown teachers to work for San Diego Unified School District, sometimes at the very schools they once attended. Over 400 alumni have returned to the district to teach across more than 75 schools.

Support Provided: Educational funding, counseling, mentoring, and team building to steer students toward success
