Overview

Teacher Innovation Grants (TIGs)

Geographic Scope: City Schools of Decatur (GA)

Program Description: Fund learning projects, pilot programs, and fresh approaches that go beyond the standard curriculum. Grants support single-year projects and/or provide seed funding for pilot projects.

Eligibility: All City Schools of Decatur educators and staff

What is NOT Funded:

  • Furniture or classroom fixtures (that might otherwise be covered by school/district budget)

  • Professional development covered by school/district budget

  • Incentives, rewards, or event merchandise (e.g., t-shirts) — contact PTAs/PTOs for these

  • Travel (DEF has separate program for travel)
  • Award History: Founded in 2000, celebrating 25 years of supporting innovation in education. Historically awards range from $200-$3,000 based on the project.

    Selection Criteria: Evaluated using a rubric available on the application page.
