Susan T. Buffett Scholarship Grant

The Susan T. Buffett Scholarship provides financial assistance to first-time freshmen from Nebraska who demonstrate financial need and plan to attend a public college in the state. Awarded based on competitive criteria, this scholarship renews each semester for up to five years at a four-year college or three years at a two-year institution. It supports students who have graduated from Nebraska high schools or earned a GED, ensuring access to higher education for those in need.

College Scholarships
The Susan T. Buffett Foundation (STBF) has offered scholarships to college students in Nebraska for over 50 years. Scholarships are awarded on a competitive basis to first-time freshmen entering college who live in Nebraska, graduate from a Nebraska high school (or GED) with plans to attend a Nebraska public college, and demonstrate financial need. There are a limited number of scholarships, so the Foundation is unable to provide awards to all eligible candidates.
The Buffett Scholarship will automatically renew each semester for up to five years at a four-year college or up to three years at a two-year college if you continue to meet the scholarship requirements, or until you graduate, whichever comes first.
Funding
Award amount is based on the tuition and fee amounts at each public college in Nebraska and the maximum term (semester or quarter).

Eligibility

Live in Nebraska and meet in-state residency requirements of the college you plan to attend
DACA, undocumented, or DACA-eligible students are still eligible to applyGraduate from a Nebraska high school or earn a Nebraska GED
Achieve at least a 2.0 cumulative unweighted GPA in high school
Be a first-time freshman when entering college
Students obtaining dual enrollment credits in high school are still eligible to apply
Plan to attend a Nebraska public college:

• Metropolitan Community College (MCC)
• Mid-Plains Community College (MPCC)
• Nebraska Indian Community College (NICC)
• Northeast Community College (NECC)

University of Nebraska Omaha (UNO)The scholarship can only be used at the above Nebraska public colleges.Be in need of financial assistance in order to attend college
Must have a Student Aid Index (SAI) below 10,000
Selection is based on a variety of criteria including financial need, academic merit, short answers, and recommendation.Note: This is a competitive scholarship and meeting the eligibility requirements does not guarantee a scholarship award.

Ineligibility

You cannot reapply for the scholarship if you already applied and completed an application.The scholarship cannot be used at private or out-of-state colleges.You cannot accept the Buffett Scholarship and the following: Scott Career Pathway Scholarship at CCC, MCC, NECC, and SCC, Goodrich Scholarship at UNO, Nebraska College Preparatory Academy (NCPA) at UNL, Avenue Scholars at MCC, PKF Engineering Academy at UNL, Learn to Dream at SCC, and Kearney Bound at UNK.Additionally, you will not be able to accept any other scholarships that conflict with the ability to complete the requirements of the scholarship and/or Learning Community.
