Summer Scholars Program

Overview: A ten-week, mentored research program for a limited number of dental students. First-year dental class is invited to apply to participate in the program during the summer after their first year.

Program Details

• Duration: 10 weeks during summer (after first year of dental school)
• Mentorship: Faculty-mentored research collaboration
• Facilities: Access to school's state-of-the-art laboratories and clinics
• Compensation: Stipend provided (amount not specified)
• Credit: Students earn one credit hour of mentored research study

Activities & Expectations

• Hands-on duties including:
- Conducting literature searches - Preparing specimens - Gathering data - Analyzing results
• Expected to produce a research paper
• Submit research abstract for poster presentation at the American Association for Dental, Oral and Craniofacial Research

Eligibility

• First-year dental students (limited number)
• Completion of first year of dental school before participation
