Summary
The Kenneth S. Cole Award recognizes outstanding researchers in membrane biophysics for their significant contributions and future potential. Open to all Subgroup members, nominations should include a curriculum vitae and a summary of qualifications. The award will be presented at the Biophysical Society Annual Meeting after the Saturday symposium, emphasizing the importance of biophysics in understanding biological systems and promoting collaboration among diverse scientific fields.Overview
NOTE: The deadline represents when the Nomination is due. What Is Biophysics? Biophysics is the field that applies the theories and methods of physics to understand how biological systems work. Biophysics has been critical to understanding the mechanics of how the molecules of life are made, how different parts of a cell move and function, and how complex systems in our bodies—the brain, circulation, immune system, and others— work. Biophysics is a vibrant scientific field where scientists from many fields including math, chemistry, physics, engineering, pharmacology, and materials sciences, use their skills to explore and develop new tools for understanding how biology—all life—works. Kenneth S. Cole Award About the Award The Kenneth S. Cole Award is a prestigious recognition given to one or more exceptional researchers in the field of membrane biophysics in acknowledgment of their significant research accomplishments, potential for future contributions, and service to the scientific community. The Awards Committee, comprising the Chair, the Chair-elect, the past Chair, and two designated individuals who are not Subgroup Officers, will select the award recipient. Nominations for the award are open to all Subgroup members and should include the nominee's curriculum vitae, a brief summary of their qualifications, contributions, and potential for future achievements. Letters of support may also be submitted, but they need not be from Subgroup members. The award will be presented at the subgroup dinner following the Saturday symposium at the Biophysical Society Annual Meeting.Eligibility
