Summary

The Biophysical Society's Early Career Award in Physical Cell Biology recognizes outstanding postdoctoral researchers or young principal investigators who contribute significantly to understanding the physics of living systems. Awardees will receive $500 and present their research at the BPS Annual Meeting in 2025. This award highlights the importance of biophysics in exploring cellular mechanics and biological systems, encouraging innovative approaches in a vibrant scientific community.

Overview

NOTE: The deadline represents when the Nomination is due. What Is Biophysics? Biophysics is the field that applies the theories and methods of physics to understand how biological systems work. Biophysics has been critical to understanding the mechanics of how the molecules of life are made, how different parts of a cell move and function, and how complex systems in our bodies—the brain, circulation, immune system, and others— work. Biophysics is a vibrant scientific field where scientists from many fields including math, chemistry, physics, engineering, pharmacology, and materials sciences, use their skills to explore and develop new tools for understanding how biology—all life—works. Early Career Award in Physical Cell Biology About the Award The BPS Early Career Award in Physical Cell Biology, sponsored by the journal PRX Life, is given to an outstanding postdoctoral researcher or young principal investigator working to understand the physics of living systems, from single molecules in individual cells to whole living organisms. The award is based on the applicant's track record. The awardee will receive $500 in prize money and present their work at the Subgroup Symposium during the BPS Annual Meeting.
