Summary
The BIV Young Faculty Award, presented by the Biophysical Society, recognizes early-career faculty for outstanding research in biophysics. This award aims to enhance the visibility of beginning faculty members focused on innovative investigations of biomolecular processes. Candidates must hold a tenure-track position and will be assessed primarily on their independent research accomplishments. The winner will have the opportunity to present at the Biopolymers in Vivo Subgroup symposium, fostering collaboration and advancements in the field.Overview
NOTE: The deadline represents when the Nomination is due. What Is Biophysics? Biophysics is the field that applies the theories and methods of physics to understand how biological systems work. Biophysics has been critical to understanding the mechanics of how the molecules of life are made, how different parts of a cell move and function, and how complex systems in our bodies—the brain, circulation, immune system, and others— work. Biophysics is a vibrant scientific field where scientists from many fields including math, chemistry, physics, engineering, pharmacology, and materials sciences, use their skills to explore and develop new tools for understanding how biology—all life—works. BIV Young Faculty Award About the Award The purpose of the Award is to boost the visibility of a beginning faculty member whose research and recent achievements focus on cutting-edge investigations of biomolecular processes in living organisms. The research can involve computation, theory or experiment. The winner will present a featured talk at the Biopolymers in Vivo Subgroup symposium. The BIV Awards Committee that selects the winner is comprised of the BIV Executive Committee, the two immediate Past Chairs, and the current postdoc and grad student representatives.Eligibility
