Summary

The Animal Welfare Foundation of Canada (AWFC) offers grants up to $2000 for student animal welfare clubs at Canadian universities. These funds support educational initiatives that promote animal welfare to club members and the wider community. Eligible projects include guest speaker travel, venue rentals for outreach activities, and educational field trips. However, funding cannot be used for individual animal care expenses or completed projects. This initiative aims to maximize the impact of animal welfare education.

Overview

Student Animal Welfare Clubs The Animal Welfare Foundation of Canada (AWFC) has limited funds for small grants (up to a maximum of $2000 per club) available for animal welfare clubs at Canadian universities to support their activities. AWFC asks clubs to direct this funding to educational activities that promote animal welfare aimed at club members, the student population in general and, where possible, the general public, to ensure the largest possible impact. Funds should not be used to support the veterinary care of individual animals on campus. Examples of what we do fund: Guest Speaker travel costs and honorariums for workshops, lunch and learns, lectures, and conferences Venue and audio/visual equipment rental costs Marketing and hosting of animal welfare club public outreach activities Extracurricular animal welfare education field trips Research-athons and other collaborative club projects Projects that identify the connections between animal welfare and considerations related to equity, diversity, and inclusion
