Overview

Stronger Together Fund

Status: Applications are currently closed. This fund was initially opened in late April 2020 for Round 1, and reopened for Round 2 with a deadline of September 25, 2020.

Geographic Scope: Minnesota (Asian Minnesotan organizations)

Funder: Coalition of Asian American Leaders (CAAL)

Background: Created in response to the COVID-19 pandemic to support Asian Minnesotan organizations and their community members during the crisis. CAAL recognizes that solidarity across diverse communities is necessary to advance social justice.

    Purpose

    CAAL Ignite aims to support Asian Minnesotan organizations who are supporting the most vulnerable segments of the community during the pandemic, with a focus on:
  • Providing accessible and in-language support, navigation, and information
  • Building organizational capacity to transition to virtual and technology-based service delivery
  • Supporting physical distancing and remote work environments

    Target Population

    The fund prioritizes support for vulnerable Asian Minnesotan community members:
  • Limited English proficiency
  • Limited technology fluency
  • Undocumented or mixed-status families
  • Low-income individuals and families
  • Large multi-generational households
  • Micro-businesses
  • Elderly populations
  • Young people

    Eligibility

  • Applicants: Asian Minnesotan organizations
  • Structure: 501(c)(3) nonprofits OR fiscally sponsored organizations
  • Emerging Groups: Informal and emerging groups addressing COVID-19 issues welcome if fiscally sponsored
  • Reapplicants: Organizations that received Round 1 funding may apply again; review committee will consider prior funding
