SCC Lifesaver Grant

The Lifesaver Grant helps South Central College students with unforeseen emergencies that would otherwise threaten their ability to succeed in school. It can help with critical expenses such as transportation costs, vehicle repairs, childcare, heat and electric utilities, and medical, dental and mental health treatment. Rent, tuition and fees, and other recurring, expected expenses are not eligible.

Students may receive a grant of up to $1,000 for eligible expenses once per academic year. Applicants must be degree-seeking, currently enrolled and attending classes, carry at least 6 credits and have a minimum 2.0 GPA. Non-credit, visiting and PSEO students are not eligible.

Start by scheduling an appointment with an SCC staff member to discuss the need and explore all options. The staff member provides the link to the Beam grant platform and can help with the application. Review takes 1 to 2 business days, followed by an email notification; approved students claim their award in Beam.
