Overview

StreetLeaders Summer Program

Purpose: Teen employment and leadership development program.

Overview: UrbanPromise Trenton hires teen leaders, known as StreetLeaders, to work at two sites in Trenton. StreetLeaders assist staff members by providing support for younger students in UPT's AfterSchool and SummerCamp Programs. The program is built on the core values of UPRISM: Unity, Professionalism, Resilience, Integrity, Servant-Leadership, and Mutual Vulnerability.

    Program Goals

  • Develop students who take initiative to be community leaders
  • Advance the mission to restore the community of Trenton
  • Ensure StreetLeaders are students FIRST—they participate in enrichment opportunities AND pursue academic excellence
  • Expose participants to traditional academics and experiential learning
  • Promote lifelong learning and high school graduation (100% graduation rate achieved annually since program start)
  • Explore and discuss Christian values through Bible study, devotionals, and prayer

    Program Duration

  • Summer 2026: June 29 – August 6, 2026
  • Schedule: Monday – Thursday, 8:30 AM – 4:00 PM
  • Note: StreetLeaders are not paid for lunch break, reading period, or enrichment time

    Eligibility Requirements

  • Must be a high school student
  • Must have permission of parent/guardian to submit an application
  • Must obtain Working Papers prior to beginning work
