Stonewall Inn Gives Back Initiative Grant Program
Funder: Stonewall Inn Gives Back Initiative (SIGBI), the official charitable giving organization of the historic Stonewall Inn in New York
Mission: Providing critical financial assistance to nonprofit grassroots organizations aiding and sheltering LGBTQ people in need throughout the United States and abroad.
Geographic Scope: United States and abroad, with priority given to underserved and marginalized LGBTQ communities in geographically less privileged areas where access to funding is difficult and local LGBTQ+ community support is underdeveloped.
Eligibility
- Organization Type: Must be an approved IRC 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization
- Purpose: Cannot be created for the purpose of political lobbying and advocacy
- Mission Alignment: Must clearly demonstrate shared core values and mission with SIGBI
- Focus Areas: Public awareness outreach, advocacy, educational programming, individual-based support and shelter to LGBTQ people in communities where progress toward equality has been slow
What SIGBI Does Not Fund
- Grants to individuals (even through Fiscal Sponsors)
- Annual giving campaigns
- Deficit reduction
- Loans
- General operating costs (unless specifically identified as the purpose of the grant request)

Selection Criteria
1. Applicant organization's alignment with SIGBI Mission
2. Completeness and conformance with submission requirements
3. Stated purpose and need for the grant (how it will advance the organization's mission)
4. Financial need of the organization
Grant Requirements/Conditions
- Grantees must provide a Final Evaluation within one year of the grant award describing the impact of the grant on their mission and the community served (maximum two-page report with news clippings, event photos, etc.)
- Grantees must agree to supply and permit the use of their official logo, organization name, and relevant photography by SIGBI for promotion and fundraising purposes

1. Brief description of your organization and link to your website
2. Current list of directors/trustees and officers
3. Current IRS determination letter showing exemption under section 501(c)(3)
4. Documentation showing good standing with the NYS Charities Bureau (or your home state agency)
5. Current Form 990
6. Current Operating Budget Summary and Annual Report, plus most recent audited financial statements available
7. Two-page (maximum) summary of your project and/or how the grant will be used
8. Time frame within which the project will be completed
9. Written agreement to provide a Final Evaluation within one year of grant award (maximum two-page report with news clippings, event photos, etc.) describing the impact of the grant on your mission and the community served
