Overview

SRPC Scholarship Program

Funder: Spokane Regional Plan Center (SRPC)

Geographic Scope: Spokane, WA area

Focus Areas: Support for employees, children, legal wards, and spouses of SRPC members attending accredited educational institutions. Promotes careers in skilled trades in partnership with NEWTech Skill Center.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must meet ALL of the following:

  • Member affiliation: Must be an employee, child, legal ward, or spouse of an employee who is a member in good standing with Spokane Regional Plan Center on the date of application submission
  • Education status: Must intend to register or be currently attending an accredited college, university, community college, or post-secondary vocational school
  • Application format: Must submit scholarship application in the format supplied (no handwritten applications) and employment verification form
  • Deadline compliance: Must submit by April 10, 2026 deadline
  • Letters of recommendation: Optional

Ineligibility

  • Immediate family of Spokane Regional Plan Center employees and Scholarship Committee Members are not eligible

Funding Source

Scholarships are funded through two major annual events:

  • Crab Feed - partnerships with local businesses

  • Golf Tournament - sponsored by local sponsors
  • Historical Impact: Over $380,000 in scholarships have been awarded to date. Additionally, SRPC has invested over $31,000 in workforce development programs at technical schools and over $12,500 in event sponsorships promoting skilled trades.

    Partnership

    SRPC partners with NEWTech Skill Center (partnership began 2018) to promote careers in skilled trades. Donations support:

  • Identification documents (birth certificates, state IDs, driver licenses)

  • Program attire (boots, welding hoods, tool belts, uniforms)

  • Transportation (bus passes)

  • Training materials (lumber, steel, electrical supplies)
