Springs Close Foundation Grant

The Springs Close Foundation Grant supports tax-exempt organizations serving Chester, Lancaster, and York counties, focusing on programs that address critical needs such as food, shelter, and education. Established in 1942, the foundation has allocated nearly $150 million to enhance community well-being. It emphasizes project-based funding, requiring detailed project breakdowns and collaboration with local consultants for grant applications. This approach ensures that the foundation aligns its resources with the specific needs identified by its community boards.

Philosophy
Since 1942, The Springs Close Foundation and its predecessor foundations have provided close to $150 million to nonprofit organizations in our communities.
The Springs Close Foundation continues to serve Colonel Springs’ legacy of giving back to the communities where Springs Mills plants were originally located. The Foundation has created Community Boards – one each in Chester, Lancaster, and York Counties. They are responsible for reviewing all grant applications, conducting site visits, and making the final grant decisions in their respective counties. Each county also has a Consultant on staff to assist grantees with the application process and to answer any questions you may have.
They were created to more closely connect us with the communities we serve and to better understand the needs and solutions that exist in each county.
The Foundation follows a philosophy that resources are here to assist community groups and agencies with programs and projects that will contribute the most to improving the quality of life for the people in its service area. Funds are never adequate to meet all the identified needs in the area and the Foundation must carefully set its priorities. Each need will continue to be evaluated on its own merit and weighed against other requests.
Please keep in mind we are a project-based funder. On the application, you will be asked to breakdown your project by all the expenses involved and to list any current and potential funders. Along with this, please have a letter of inquiry that fully explains your project in detail.

Eligibility

Must be tax-exempt under Section 501c3 of the Internal Revenue Code and serve Chester, Lancaster, and/or York counties.Must be an organization that effectively delivers support for basic critical needs food, shelter, or emergency medical assistance to the residents of Chester, Lancaster, and York counties and/or education initiatives that directly impact the students in the Chester County school district, Lancaster County school district, and Fort Mill school district.

Ineligibility

The Foundation does not provide grants for fundraisers, sponsorships, salaries, individuals, foundations, or sports teams.Please do not submit your organization’s yearly budget as a project.
