Trans Youth Emergency Project (TYEP)

Geographic Scope: Every state in the country with a gender-affirming care ban (currently 25 states); leading edge of Southern Equality Fund work with particular focus on the South

Emergency financial and logistical support for transgender youth and families navigating gender-affirming care bans

Support for families traveling out of state for care

Patient navigation services

Emergency grants to help families cover travel expenses and related costs

Families of transgender youth affected by gender-affirming care bans

Transgender youth and their families seeking access to best-practice gender-affirming care

Program Details:
Launched in response to cruel laws banning best-practice gender-affirming care that have passed in 25 states. Thousands of transgender youth and families are forced to travel extreme distances and incur significant expenses to access care. The project provides:

1-on-1 custom patient navigation services

Emergency grants to families of transgender youth

Hundreds of thousands of dollars directly distributed to families

Partnership with local organizations serving LGBTQ+ and transgender folks in each state
