SMSNA Research Fellowship in Andrology

Overview

Purpose:

This research fellowship program is to support clinical and/or basic research in men's health with a focus on Andrology, and foster development of expertise in the field of men's health. The funding is intended to supplement post-doctoral research activities and conference participation to present those activities.

Award Term:

* July 1, 2025 – June 30, 2026

Award Amount:

* 1 grant of up to $25,000

Funding and Distribution of Funds

If awarded, funds are to be used for educational support related to research activities.

Awards will be paid to the sponsoring institution (medical school, hospital, university) and a W-9/W-8 BEN-E, as appropriate, must be completed before any funds are dispersed.

Funds will be payable in two installments available for distribution at the beginning of the grant term upon receipt of all required documentation and at the mid-point of the grant upon submission and approval of the mid-term report.

The SMSNA Foundation does not withhold taxes from the grant funds (i.e., federal withholding, social security, local or state taxes, etc.). It is the responsibility of the recipient to ensure that appropriate federal and local taxes are paid (if applicable).

* Eligibility Information:
* An SMSNA member in good standing.
* Institution is located with North America (US/Canada)
* Awards will not be paid directly to the applicant or mentor.
* A medical doctor (MD/DO) who will have completed their residency training by the start of the award term and is within 5 years of completing their clinical training, and/or a PhD who is considered a post-doctoral fellow in training in a research lab and is within 7 years of completing their degree.
* For all human research, IRB number and approval must be documented. Pre-clinical animal research should be reviewed and approved by the ACAR at funding institution.
* Allowable expenses include research supplies, statistical consultation, and logistical support for the assessment and care of research subjects or animals.
* All awards must be used for the direct expenses of the program and may not be used to cover a salary for a position or activities that bill patient services.

Ineligibility

* Indirect costs are not permitted.
* Awards cannot be applied to attendee registration, meals, any marketing or commercial support, gratuities, staff travels, or awards.
* Overhead expenses are not allowable.
