Organization: Lutheran Family Services

Geographic Scope: Nebraska (primarily Omaha, Lincoln, and surrounding areas)

Program Focus: Educational scholarships for high school students from diverse backgrounds pursuing higher education

Eligibility: High school seniors planning to attend college or vocational programs. Preference appears to be given to students from underrepresented communities based on scholar demographics.

What They Fund: Scholarships to support college/university and vocational education enrollment

Overview: The Smith Diversity Scholarship supports graduating high school students in their pursuit of post-secondary education. Scholars have attended universities including University of Nebraska–Omaha, University of Nebraska–Lincoln, Howard University, Iowa State University, Stanford University, University of Pennsylvania, and various community colleges and vocational schools. Fields of study include engineering, nursing, pre-med, education, business, cybersecurity, and other professions.
