Smith Scholarship

Overview: Lutheran Family Services offers the Smith Scholarship to support diverse students pursuing higher education.

Geographic Scope: Nebraska and surrounding areas (based on high schools listed: Omaha, Elkhorn, South Sioux City, Lincoln, Crete, Grand Island, Sutton, Madison, Scottsbluff, and Council Bluffs, Iowa area)

Eligibility:

  • High school seniors planning to attend college or post-secondary institutions

  • Diverse student populations (scholarship demonstrates commitment to supporting underrepresented groups)
  • Focus Areas: All academic majors and career paths (scholars have pursued education, engineering, pre-med, nursing, business, cybersecurity, physics, dentistry, culinary arts, hospitality management, and more)

    Award Recipients: The program has been awarding scholarships annually, with documented recipients from 2021-2025 cohorts
