Summary
The Small Animal Theriogenology Residency Program Grant, supported by the American Kennel Club (AKC), AKC Canine Health Foundation, and Theriogenology Foundation, invites proposals from accredited veterinary schools in the U.S. to fund residency positions in canine reproductive health. With funding up to $150,000, the program aims to advance training in clinical genetics and prepare candidates for board certification, ultimately enhancing the health of purebred and purpose-bred dogs.Overview
Small Animal Theriogenology Residency Program Scope Working together, the American Kennel Club (AKC), AKC Canine Health Foundation (AKCCHF), and Theriogenology Foundation (TF) invite proposals from Theriogenology training programs to support a residency position focused on canine reproductive health and reproduction. AKC/AKCCHF/TF are dedicated to investing in tomorrow’s veterinarians who specialize in the medical and surgical management, treatment, and research of canine reproductive health and disease, and clinical genetics. This award also promotes the health of purebred and purpose-bred dogs. To support this commitment, AKC/AKCCHF/TF seek applications from residency programs to fund a canine-focused, traditional track resident matriculating during the specified time. Applications must be from United States veterinary schools with an active residency program approved by the American College of Theriogenologists (ACT). Applicants must demonstrate their ability to successfully prepare candidates for board certification by the ACT, which includes mentorship, educational training, clinical competencies, appropriate caseload, and research support. Rigorous training in canine clinical genetics is encouraged. Research Focus Areas Investigators are encouraged to submit proposals in the following research program area(s): Residency Program Area (Theriogenology & Sports Medicine). Funding & Project Period Applications up to $150,000 (including 15% maximum indirect costs) for the total budget of the entire residency will be accepted for review. Since the nature and scope of proposed projects vary, the duration of awards also varies. Both two- and three-year resident training programs are eligible.Eligibility
