Society of Health and Physical Educators SHAPE America – Society of Health and Physical Educators serves as the voice for 200,000+ health and physical education professionals across the United States. The organization’s extensive community includes a diverse membership of health and physical educators, as well as advocates, supporters, and 50+ state affiliate organizations. Since its founding in 1885, the organization has defined excellence in school-based health education and physical education. For decades, SHAPE America’s National Physical Education Standards have served as the foundation for well-designed physical education programs across the country, just as the SHAPE America National Health Education Standards serve as the foundation for effective skills-based health education. Together, these national standards provide a comprehensive framework for educators to deliver high-quality instruction and make a positive difference in the health and well-being of every preK-12 student. Our Mission: To advance professional practice and promote research related to health and physical education, physical activity, dance and sport. Research Fellow Program Fellow status is reserved for members who have made significant and sustained contributions to scholarship (research, creative, or scholarly activity) and related service in the areas of interest to SHAPE America. The purpose of Fellow status is to promote scholarship as an integral component of SHAPE America as well as to: Recognize accomplishments in scholarship by SHAPE America members Recognize and promote participation in the research activities of SHAPE AmericaEligibility

Nomination for the Research Fellow of SHAPE America is based on the following required criteria:Criteria Reminder (Area 1): Publication of a minimum of 10 separate original research articles in nationally recognized peer-reviewed journals with an Impact Factor and a minimum of 5 as lead author – since doctoral degree was conferred. If you include in-press publications for these 10 papers, please provide a letter of acceptance from the editor.Criteria Reminder (Area 2): Presentation of a minimum of three separate research papers at the SHAPE America National Conventions on the Research program – within the past 5 years. Criteria Reminder (Area 3):Minimum of one service activity with the Research Council (e.g., Research convention abstract reviewer, RQES manuscript reviewer, Research council grant review committee) or within SHAPE America in the past 5 years. Participate at three or more SHAPE America National Conventions – in the past 5 years.Area 4:Description of Established Lines of Scholarship (Research and Creative Activity).Description of Service to SHAPE America, the Research Council and other related national/international organizations.Vita Nomination from Research Council Fellow Unofficial or official transcript supporting conferring of PhD degreeMember must have at least five years membership in SHAPE America at time of nomination.
