SFI Community Grants

Overview: SFI Community Grants are awarded for collaborative community-based projects, activities, or events that support SFI's efforts to connect communities to forests.

Geographic Scope: United States and Canada

Focus Areas:

  • Forest literacy and education

  • Urban forest management

  • Green job pathways

  • Workforce development (diverse and resilient)

  • Youth engagement in outdoor education and conservation

  • Indigenous knowledge incorporation into forest management planning and education curriculum

  • Community connections to forests through interactive exhibits and tours
  • Project Types Supported:

  • Interactive outdoor exhibits

  • In-person forest tours

  • Online tools (apps, websites)

  • Professional development for educators and community leaders

  • Teacher training and curriculum development
  • Eligibility: Projects must be collaborative and community-based, supporting SFI's mission of advancing sustainability through forest-focused collaboration
