Senior Saves Heating Assistance Program

      Award Details

    • Grants and/or deferred loans at 0% interest
    • Up to $12,000 in assistance for heating system replacement
    • Important: This program does NOT offer reimbursements. Systems already replaced are ineligible.

      Eligibility Requirements

      Applicants must:
    • Be age 60 or older
    • Be a homeowner and primary resident of the property (1-4 unit homes)
    • Live in Boston in one of the eligible neighborhoods
    • Be current on property tax payments
    • Be current on Boston Water and Sewer Commission payments
    • Have household income ≤ 80% of Area Median Income (AMI)
    • For multifamily properties: at least 50% of residents must have low or moderate incomes

      What They Don't Fund

    • Reimbursements for already-completed heating system replacements
    • Properties not meeting income requirements
    • Homeowners with delinquent taxes or water/sewer payments

    Designed to help seniors maintain safe, warm homes by providing financial assistance to repair or replace old heating systems before they become health or safety risks during Boston winters.

    1. Determine Eligibility: Verify you meet all eligibility requirements (age 60+, homeowner, resident, income within 80% AMI, current on taxes and water/sewer payments)

    3. Home Assessment: NOAH will conduct a free in-home evaluation of your heating system to determine:
    - Your eligibility for the program
    - What repairs or replacements may be needed

    4. Submit Application: Complete the formal application process with NOAH
    - Income documentation required (to verify ≤80% AMI)
    - Property tax and water/sewer payment verification
    - Proof of residency

    5. Contractor Selection: NOAH will arrange work through licensed, insured, and approved contractors

    6. Program Completion: Receive assistance as grant and/or 0% interest deferred loan
