Senior Research Awards Grant

The Senior Research Awards support innovative research that enhances understanding of IBD and promotes disease interception and quality of life. Each year, proposals undergo peer review to identify groundbreaking projects for funding, with a focus on generating impactful findings that can lead to further funding and significant publications.

Support for our research program is provided by volunteers and donors, as well as corporations and philanthropic foundations.
Mechanisms in IBD that are demonstrably relevant to the human disease are particularly important as a focus for preclinical research.
Each year, the Foundation receives approximately 300 requests for Senior Research, Training, and Student support awards. All proposals are subjected to peer review to identify the most meritorious and groundbreaking projects for funding.
The goal of the Senior Research Award (SRA) is to provide established researchers with funds to generate findings that could have an impact on the field of IBD and advance the previously stated mission of the Foundation. The impact of a project is evaluated through various measures, including follow-on funding from other sources (such as the National Institute of Health), publications with high impact, and related patents or citations within patents.
