Overview: The Alliance for Health Equity's Seed-And-Scale Grant Program supports nonprofit organizations addressing social determinants of health in the Greater Coatesville region through a dollar-for-dollar matching model. Grantees receive initial funding and can leverage additional donations from supporters to achieve 2-to-1 matches.

Geographic Scope: Greater Coatesville, Chester County, PA

Eligible Organizations: 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations

Organizations receive Seed funding

AHE matches dollar-for-dollar any donations the organization raises

Organizations can leverage additional funds to achieve 2-to-1 match ratios to serve more beneficiaries

Chester County OIC

• Focus: Employment Development and Workforce Development
• Award: $25,000 in donations matched DOLLAR-FOR-DOLLAR
• Mission: "Helping People Help Themselves" through workforce development programs for low-income residents, working-class individuals, and ALICE populations
• Services: Free adult education, industry-recognized credentials, comprehensive workforce services in 19320 area
• Objectives: Connecting unemployed/underemployed individuals with livable wage opportunities, supportive services, employer partnerships, professional development

North Star of Chester County

• Focus: Housing Stability
• Award: $10,000 in donations matched DOLLAR-FOR-DOLLAR (initial funding for 2 families, with 2-to-1 match goal to serve 6 total families)
• Mission: Homelessness prevention and self-sufficiency for working single parents (ALICE populations)
• Services: Monthly rental assistance, ongoing case management, office pantry access, children's enrichment programs, gas and grocery gift cards
• Program Details: Debt reduction, savings growth, credit improvement, homeownership guidance
• Eligibility: Full-time employment, Chester County residency with children, non-subsidized housing residents

Friends Association of Chester County

• Focus: Housing Stability and Life Skills
• Award: $15,000 in donations matched DOLLAR-FOR-DOLLAR
• Mission: Empowering families with essential life skills through strategic partnerships
• Services: Financial literacy workshops, health and wellness workshops, Life Skills Program, full-time Life Skills Coach support
• Partnerships: Housing Partnership of Chester County, Children's Hospital of Philadelphia's Homeless Health Initiative
• Goal: Break cycles of multigenerational poverty and address affordable housing challenges

• Focus: Housing Stability
• Award: $15,000 in donations matched DOLLAR-FOR-DOLLAR
• Mission: Assisting older women aged 60+ struggling to afford housing in Greater Coatesville
• Program: Pre-Senior Bridge Housing II program providing rental subsidies until housing vouchers received
• Services: Rental subsidies ($300/month average shortfall + $50/month for additional essentials)
• Target Population: Women with low fixed incomes, insufficient family support, chronic health conditions; Section 8 eligible or on waiting lists

Educational Equity Alliance (Coatesville Kids to College)

- Expanding Family Story Time sessions - Creating new programs at local preschools - Growing school outreach program for CASD classrooms - Launching Kindergarten Summer Reading Camp with E. Fallowfield Elementary School
• Target: Incoming Kindergarten and First-grade students to strengthen reading skills
• Impact: Addresses children's educational outcomes and prospects through nurturing environment fostering imagination, curiosity, vocabulary, and social skills
