Program Overview:
The SEC Scholarship Program recognizes and encourages the academic achievements of children of rural electric cooperative members. The program awards multiple scholarships annually to exceptional high school students.

Award Structure

• 2026 awards: $9,000 total distributed as follows:
- Two (2) scholarships of $1,250 each (provided by Basin Electric Cooperative) - Four (4) scholarships of $1,000 each - Five (5) scholarships of $500 each

Note: Award amounts may vary by year (2024-2025 awarded $7,500 total with five $1,000 and five $500 scholarships)

Eligibility

• Student must be a high school student
• Parent or guardian must be an active member-owner of Southeastern Electric Cooperative
• Selection based on:
- Academic excellence (grade point average) - Work experience - Participation in school and community activities - Statement outlining educational and career goals - Written recommendation from a third party (teacher or adviser)

• Empower and invest in future leaders of rural communities
• Support educational aspirations of talented young individuals within the cooperative community
• Recognize academic achievement of cooperative member families
