Overview

Science and Technology Scholarship

Funder: Partners for Environmental Progress (PEP)

Geographic Scope: Mobile, Baldwin, Washington, and Clarke Counties in Alabama; Jackson County, Mississippi; and Escambia County, Florida

Purpose: To invest in and support educational opportunities in engineering and environmental sciences, exposing students to critical issues involving the Gulf Coast, encouraging innovation in the workplace, and promoting improvements in best practices that positively impact the environment and natural resources.

Award Details:

  • Amount: $2,500 per scholarship

  • Number of Awards: Two scholarships in 2026

  • Administrator: Community Foundation of South Alabama

    • Eligible Fields of Study:

  • Natural science (marine science, geoscience, fisheries, forestry, estuarine science and management)

  • Environmental science and planning

  • Environmental engineering

  • All engineering fields (preference given to environmental and natural science degrees)

    • Eligibility Criteria:

  • Must be owner, employee, or dependent of owner/employee of a PEP member company in good standing at time of application, selection, and award

  • Must be enrolled as full or part-time student in accredited two-year or four-year technical college or university

  • Must have minimum GPA of 3.0

  • Pursuing degree or advanced degree in eligible fields

  • Must be currently enrolled at time of application, selection, and awarding

    • Additional Benefits:

  • Local internships with PEP members and partners may be available to scholarship recipients

  • Recipients welcome and encouraged to attend PEP events and meet experienced leaders in their fields

    1. Visit the Community Foundation of South Alabama website (communityfoundationsa.org)
    2. Complete the scholarship application form
    3. Submit application by April 30, 2026

    Application Requirements:

  • Must demonstrate enrollment as full or part-time student in accredited two-year or four-year college/university

  • Must provide proof of GPA of 3.0 or higher

  • Must verify membership status of PEP member company (owner, employee, or dependent of owner/employee)

  • Must demonstrate pursuit of degree in eligible field of study

    • Selection Process:

  • Community Foundation of South Alabama administers and selects recipients

  • Selection based on criteria established by PEP Board of Directors

  • Award winners publicized to local media and community
