SCF: Nexteer Steering the Future Fund Grant

The Nexteer Steering the Future Fund, managed by the Saginaw Community Foundation, supports 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations. With grants up to $2,500, it aims to enhance community well-being through initiatives that foster diversity, innovation, and education. Applicants must have a Nexteer Project Sponsor and demonstrate community involvement, workforce development, and sustainability efforts. This fund exemplifies Nexteer's commitment to strengthening the communities where they operate and enhancing the quality of life for residents.

Purpose:
Nexteer Automotive – A Leader in Intuitive Motion Control – is a global steering and driveline business delivering electric and hydraulic power steering systems, steering columns and driveline systems, as well as advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and automated driving technologies for original equipment manufacturers. As a global corporate citizen, Nexteer Automotive believes in strengthening communities where it operates and the communities its employees live, work & play.
Through the Nexteer Steering the Future Fund, Nexteer Automotive offers financial support for non-profit charitable 501(c)3 organizations. The Nexteer Steering the Future Fund, administered by the Saginaw Community Foundation, is overseen by a committee of Nexteer employees who review all applications and make grant determinations based on the merits of each application. This grant program is one of the ways Nexteer Automotive helps create and strengthen a positive sense of community through employee awareness of organizations committed in creating a sense of belonging for all in the area.
Criteria:

• Improves international relations or promotes international commerce .Promotes entrepreneurism and innovation in business
• .Creates workplaces, communities and economies with greater diversity – in ethnicity, national origin, gender, skill sets and thought

Improves communication skills in home, school, workplace, civic and global settings .Trains the next generation of industry leaders by improving business, math, engineering and technology education
.Fosters innovation in technology and transportation
.Improves the economies and quality of life in the communities of Nexteer’s facilities and customers
.Creates a cleaner, safer environment for future generations.
Funding:

• Requests for a Nexteer Steering the Future Fund grant can be for up to $2,500.

Eligibility

Applicant must be a non-profit charitable 501(c)3 organization.
To be eligible for funding, the applicant must secure project backing from a person who currently works for Nexteer Automotive; a Nexteer Project Sponsor. The Nexteer Project Sponsor ensures the project meets the evaluation criteria and supports the project.The applicant must demonstrate one or more of the following within the request for funding:Community involvement by building relationships and collaborations.
Support of career and education in the following ways:development of the future workforce through career awareness and work readiness
promoting achievement and innovation of students and educators
building skills and competencies toward developing leadership qualities and resiliency within youth
supporting educational access. Strengthening neighborhoods by:neighborhood revitalization efforts
supporting community sustainability programs to help address the basic needs of residents
supporting an atmosphere that fosters inclusion and promotes diversity
encouraging activities that minimize adverse impacts on the environment.

Ineligibility

The Nexteer Steering the Future Fund will not provide funding for the following: operating budgets, previously incurred debt, basic municipal and educational services, sectarian religious programs, sports team sponsorships, and individual scholarships. Low priority is given to requests for travel for groups such as school classes, clubs or sports teams.
