Scanlan Foundation General Grants

  • Session 2027A: Open November 1 - Due December 15, 2026 (Decision by June 1, 2027)
  • Session 2027B: Open May 1 - Due June 15, 2027 (Decision by December 1, 2027)

    Important Notes

  • Late applications will NOT be accepted
  • Approval or denial of previous applications does not guarantee future outcomes
  • Organizations with outstanding reporting/receipts may not receive funding until current
  • Does not make matching grants
  • Amount requested is not a deciding factor in approval
  • Board may grant requests in part or in full

How to Apply

Application Process

#### Step 1: Determine Organization Type and Form
Select the appropriate application form based on organization type:

  • Diocese/Archdiocese: Diocese Grant Application Form (unless for individual campus ministry or independent ministry with own tax-exempt letter)

  • High Schools in Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston: High School Grant Application Form

  • Individual Undergraduate Campus Ministries: Campus Ministry Application Form

  • Colleges, Universities, and Seminaries: Higher Education Grant Application Form

  • All Other Ministries: Ministry Grant Application Form (including campus ministry at multiple schools/colleges)
  • #### Step 2: Review Requirements

  • Read through all website information and strategic plan

  • Review Application Guidelines document

  • Read application form instructions carefully

  • Download IRS Form W-9 (Rev. March 2024) if required
  • #### Step 3: Complete Application Form

  • Download corresponding PDF from website

  • Complete using Adobe Acrobat Reader DC or similar PDF application

  • Alternatively, print form and scan documents for submission

  • Do not convert forms to other file types

  • Do not omit or reorder application form pages
  • #### Step 4: Prepare Required Materials

  • Individual PDF files for each form and required attachment

  • Keep all responses within the given space on PDF forms

  • Do not submit Word documents (formatting will not be retained)

  • Do not submit ZIP files or files via external download links
  • #### Step 5: Submit Application

  • Complete Scanlan Foundation IRS Receipt Form upon receipt of grant

  • Complete Scanlan Foundation Grant Report Form by stated deadline

  • Keep detailed records of all grant requests and outcomes

  • Organizations with outstanding paperwork may not receive future funding
  • Recommendation

    Break down funding request and illustrate how grant funds will be used, as board may grant request in part or in full.
