Mission The Sarah G. McCarthy Memorial Foundation was established in 1948 in memory of the donor's mother. The trustees are specifically interested in the areas of education, housing & shelter, agriculture, food, health and historical research. Guidelines Requests for general operating and program support will be considered, as will requests for specific program-enabling capital improvements. Grants may be subject to matching obligations and payable over multiple years. On very rare occasions, the trustees will consider needs for emergency grants. Grants are made year to year with a five-year maximum. Exceptions will only be made upon demonstrated need. Grants range from 2K to 15K based on how well the proposed use meets a given need, collaborative effort is evidenced, and the number of persons impacted is quantifiable. Site visits may be conducted prior to decision making meetings. Prior grantees must submit a one-page expenditure report prior to any subsequent grant being considered.
