Ruane Prize for Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Research Grant

The Ruane Prize for Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Research, established in 2000 by Joy and William Ruane, aims to recognize significant advancements in understanding childhood psychiatric disorders. Awarded by the Brain & Behavior Research Foundation, it offers a $50,000 prize to outstanding researchers dedicated to improving treatments and knowledge of severe psychiatric illnesses that manifest in early life. Winners are honored at an annual gala in New York City, highlighting their impactful contributions to mental health research.

The Brain & Behavior Research Foundation is committed to alleviating the suffering caused by mental illness by awarding grants that will lead to advances and breakthroughs in scientific research.
This prize was initiated in 2000 by philanthropists Joy and William Ruane to recognize important advances in understanding and treatment of early-onset brain and behavior disorders. This prize carries an award of $50,000 and the winner(s) is honored at the annual International Awards Dinner in New York City in October.

Eligibility

An outstanding scientist carrying out research on the causes, pathophysiology, treatment, or prevention of severe child psychiatric illness. The scientist to be recognized is one who gives a particular promise for advancing our understanding of psychotic, affective or other severe psychiatric disorders having their onset in childhood or adolescence.Individuals who have made such significant contributions to child psychiatric research in the last ten years. Please note that last year’s nominations do carry over, however, please send updated information if you would like to be considered.Please keep in mind that contributions may be for clinical research or relevant basic science.
