Overview

BBRF Independent Investigator Grant

Program Purpose: Provides support for investigators during the critical period between the initiation of research and the receipt of sustained funding.

Award Details:

  • Amount: Two-year grant up to $100,000 or $50,000 per year

  • Duration: One or two years

  • Career Stage: Associate professor level or equivalent
  • Eligibility:

  • Scientists at associate professor level or equivalent

  • Must be clearly independent

  • Must have won national competitive support as a principal investigator

  • Note: Assistant professors who are principal investigators on NIH R01 grants are now eligible
  • Research Focus:
    Research must be relevant to:

  • Schizophrenia

  • Major affective disorders

  • Other serious mental illnesses
  • Investigator Types Supported:

  • Basic investigators

  • Clinical investigators
  • Program Goals: Intended to facilitate innovative research opportunities
