Kearney Area Community Foundation The Kearney Area Community Foundation's vision is to maintain a philanthropic culture to assure that donors and the community are served in an atmosphere of trust and professionalism which will, in turn, allow the Kearney Area Community Foundation to make a meaningful and positive impact on the residents of our community, now and in the future. As our mission, we enhance the quality of life in the Kearney area by promoting the spirit of charitable giving and effectively responding to the community's needs. The Kearney Area Community Foundation manages 69 scholarship funds one of which is the Roy and Doris Abood Scholarship. Roy and Doris Abood Scholarship The Roy and Doris Abood Scholarship is offered by the Kearney Area Community Foundation and is intended to support students pursuing higher education. It is open to first-generation college students (students whose parents have not graduated from college) who plan to attend the University of Nebraska at Kearney (UNK) on a full-time basis. This $1100 scholarship is awarded at the beginning of the first semester of the first year of higher education.Eligibility

Must be a current, graduating senior of a Nebraska High school Must be enrolled full-time (minimum 12 hours) in undergraduate study at the University of Nebraska – Kearney, in the upcoming fall semester.Scholarships will be awarded to UNK-bound graduates of Nebraska-area high schoolsAward to first generation college students (A first-generation college student is defined as a student whose parent(s)/legal guardian(s) have not completed a bachelor's degree.
