Overview

Roe Green Visiting Voices

Overview: A national outreach program (formerly called Roe Green Traveling Masters) that brings prominent theater writers into communities across the country to lead workshops, master classes, talkbacks, and other public events.

Purpose: To amplify voices in the theater community that would otherwise not receive opportunity to share their work due to lack of funding or lack of representation in the industry. Connects playwrights with theater institutions and educational organizations nationwide.

Geographic Scope: National (United States)

Program Structure:

  • Pairs a dramatist (called an "Ambassador") with a host theater institution or organization

  • Ambassador and host collaborate to curate two or more events

  • Dramatists receive funding to cover travel and other expenses
  • Event Types:

  • Community Conversations

  • Dramatist Development Workshops

  • Theatre Educators Workshops

  • Talkbacks

  • Pre-Production Meetings with cast and crew

    How to Participate

    For Host Theater Institutions/Organizations:

    1. Contact DGF to express interest in hosting a visiting writer:

    2. Collaboration Process:
    - DGF pairs your organization with an appropriate dramatist Ambassador
    - You work together to curate events from available categories
    - Plan a minimum of two events

    3. Event Planning:
    - Select event types from:
    - Community Conversations
    - Dramatist Development Workshops
    - Theatre Educators Workshops
    - Talkbacks
    - Pre-Production Meetings
    - Coordinate scheduling and logistics with the Ambassador

    4. Funding:
    - DGF covers dramatist's travel and other expenses
    - Host institution provides venue and local logistics

  • Ability to host visiting dramatist

  • Commitment to organizing collaborative programming
