Overview

RMFU College Scholarships

Funder: Rocky Mountain Farmers Union (RMFU)

Geographic Scope: Colorado, New Mexico, and Wyoming

Award Amount: $500 per scholarship (program offers multiple scholarships annually)

Purpose: Assist Farmers Union members pursuing post-secondary education to help offset rising education costs and declining farm income.

    Eligibility

  • Current regular or associate member of Rocky Mountain Farmers Union
  • High school senior OR already enrolled in an institution of higher learning
  • Applicants need not have membership in their own name if parents are members
  • School must conform to GI Bill qualifications (correspondence schools not eligible)
  • Previous RMFU scholarship recipients may not apply
  • No more than one family member awarded per year
  • Some scholarships have geographic restrictions (Colorado, New Mexico, Wyoming institutions only; one Weld County, Colorado residency requirement)

How to Apply

Application Requirements

Required Materials:
1. Current high school or college transcript
2. ACT or SAT scores
3. Two letters of recommendation:
- One from teacher, principal, superintendent, counselor, or college advisor
- One from a community member
4. Two photos of applicant
5. Letter of at least 100 words including:
- Applicant's knowledge of Farmers Union and its affiliates
- Applicant's financial need
- Name and location of college, university, or vocational school applicant plans to attend

Application Notes:

  • Applicants do NOT need to specify which scholarship they are applying for

  • With exception of residency requirements, all applicants eligible for any scholarship

  • Postmark deadline: March 15
