Risk and Innovation Grant

Funder: Arts Council for Long Beach

Award Amount: $5,000

Overview:
The Risk and Innovation Grant provides an opportunity to bring innovation to communities through arts-based problem solving and supports artists for experimental, career-advancing growth. The grant was funded by Arts Council President Marco Schindelmann, Executive Director Victoria Bryan, former Board Member Joe Herron, and volunteers David and Terry Braunstein using personal funds.

    Eligibility

  • Long Beach-based artists
  • Any medium (music, sound, visual arts, dance, or other expressions)

Funding Approaches

Creative Solutions: Supports experimental, arts-based approaches to solve large, complex community issues with transformative potential. The Arts Council takes risks on less proven approaches recognizing that innovation requires flexibility, iteration and risk.

Creative Growth: Encourages experimental, risk-taking creative projects that advance an artist's career and expose them to new audiences. Supports factors that limit an artist's opportunity to expand their practice.
