Champlain Hudson Environmental Trust

The Champlain Hudson Environmental Trust was established for the purposes of protecting, restoring, and improving aquatic habitats and fisheries resources in the Hudson River Estuary, the Harlem and East Rivers, Lake Champlain and their tributaries. As administrator of the Trust, the Hudson River Foundation is working with the Trust’s Governance Committee to develop and implement important research and restoration projects.

RFP: Restoration and Enhancement of Important Habitats for Fish and Wildlife

The Champlain Hudson Power Express transmission project will install and operate a transmission cable carrying hydroelectric power generated from dams in Quebec to a converter station in Astoria, Queens. Significant portions of these cables will be installed in Lake Champlain and in the Hudson, Harlem and East Rivers.

The Hudson River Foundation and the ETGC have worked collaboratively to define project types to fund under this opportunity. This RFP is soliciting proposals for projects on habitat enhancement and restoration in Lake Champlain, the Hudson River, East River, and Harlem River.

The Hudson River Foundation, as Trust Administrator, is requesting letters of intent for a funding opportunity on the restoration and enhancement of important habitats for fish and wildlife in Lake Champlain, the Hudson River, East River, and Harlem River. Eligible habitat restoration and enhancement activities include 1) planning and design; 2) implementation; and 3) monitoring and management.  There is $2,000,000 available under this program for this funding cycle.

* Proposed projects must be within the geographic scope of CHET, which includes Lake Champlain, the Hudson River, Harlem River, and East River. Within this geographic scope, projects will be additionally evaluated by proximity to the impacted resources.
