Background The Lead-Safe Homes Program (LSHP) has grant opportunities available to make children homes lead safe beginning on October 1, 2025, and ending September 30, 2026. Childhood lead poisoning impacts every county in Wisconsin and LSHP is asking for your assistance in making children’s homes safe from lead-based paint hazards. Lead-Safe Homes Program Grant Opportunity for a Program Administrative Grantee The Wisconsin Department of Health Services’ (WI DHS) Lead-Safe Homes Program (LSHP) is soliciting partner organizations to coordinate lead hazard reduction related services for children and pregnant women eligible for Medicaid or BadgerCare benefits throughout the State of Wisconsin. The purpose of this request for applications is to seek local partner organizations to provide lead-safe services as part of the Wisconsin Department of Health Services’ (WI-DHS) Lead-Safe Homes Program (LSHP). This program is available through a Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) health services initiative (HSI) funded through the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS). WI-DHS will select organizations with capacity to provide coordination, environmental investigation, project oversight, repair and remediation of identified lead hazards in eligible homes across the State of Wisconsin. LSHP performs lead hazard reduction activities at eligible properties in all counties in Wisconsin and prioritizes projects based on the blood lead levels of children as outlined in the HSI and as described below. The grant is expected to begin on October 1, 2026. Approximately up to $7,700,000 will be available starting October 1, 2026, through September 30, 2027, contingent on state and federal funding, to administer all aspects of LSHP in their local area of service. Multiple grants may be awarded from this request. The total grant dollars will be distributed between selected grantee organizations across the state based on the number of units each anticipates serving.Eligibility
