Overview

ReEnergize Program

Status: Active (launched in 2020 as economic recovery stimulus)

Geographic Scope: Garfield County, Colorado (western Garfield County for residential; county-wide for businesses)

Focus Areas:

  • Program Description:
    ReEnergize is designed to help struggling households and businesses boost the local economy through efficiency and clean energy. The program makes extra funding available to reduce costs of energy improvements.

    Eligibility:

  • Residential: Xcel residential all-electric and gas-plus-electric customers in Garfield County

  • Commercial: Restaurants, retailers, and lodges
  • What They Fund:

  • Home energy assessments: $150 rebate

  • Business efficiency projects: Up to $1,500 toward efficiency upgrades including lighting, heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration equipment
  • Leverage: Program leverages existing rebates from Xcel Energy, Holy Cross Energy, Black Hills Energy, and CORE (Community Office of Resource Efficiency)

    Background:
    Garfield Clean Energy (GCE) launched ReEnergize during the COVID-19 pandemic. GCE was originally created in 2009 following the economic downturn and has leveraged about $4 million of public funding into more than $40 million of investment in the county. This investment returns an estimated $1.4 million annually to Garfield County households, businesses, and governments.
