About DPR The DC Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) provides quality urban recreation and leisure services for residents and visitors to the District of Columbia. DPR supervises many of the District of Columbia's recreation/community centers, parks, athletic fields, playgrounds, spray parks, tennis courts, community gardens, dog parks, aquatic facilities and features. The agency also coordinates a wide variety of recreation programs, including sports leagues, youth development, therapeutic recreation, aquatic programming, outdoor adventure, camping, and senior citizen activities. In addition, adaptive programs and facilities are available for persons with disabilities. Rec for All - Extended Summer Programming In support of the District of Columbia, Mayor Muriel E. Bowser’s goal of fully engaging underserved youth with robust recreation opportunities, the DC Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) is proud to continue its Recreation for All Community Grants. DPR will offer funding to support Community-based programs, activities, and events that will engage youth, provide recreation opportunities, and promote skill development. Rec For All will invest in organizations that will expand recreational offerings and provide residents in underserved communities with safe quality events, programs, and affordable recreation opportunities. Scope DPR is seeking organizations through the competitive grantmaking process to provide extended summer programming to 50 youth ages 10 to 13 for four consecutive weeks. The Extended Summer program is designed to provide continued recreational opportunities to district youth during the summer months. The goal is to enhance key skills and provide a safe and engaging environment. It includes enrichment activities beyond the regular school year to keep youth engaged, active and learning. The program promotes physical wellness, social emotional growth and community connection while offering safe affordable opportunities for children and teens during the summer months.
