Read Conmigo Grant Program- School Impact Grants

The Read Conmigo School Impact Grants, offered by The Kemper Foundation, provide $10,000 grants annually to Title I elementary schools in select locations. Aimed at supporting dual-language initiatives, eligible schools must have an established Spanish-English program and be located in designated counties of Arizona, California, Florida, Illinois, or Texas. Funds can be used for resources, technology, professional development, and community engagement. Applications must be submitted by the school principal by the deadline.

NOTE: School Impact Grant applications must be submitted by the principal on behalf of their school. The application is due 11:59 pm local time.
The Kemper Foundation’s Read Conmigo Grant Program aims to advance dual-language (Spanish-English) education for bilingual students in under-resourced communities. By providing grants to educators and schools, the program enhances bilingualism and biliteracy, supports academic achievement, and fosters multicultural understanding. These grants seek to make a significant impact on Hispanic and Latino students, helping them develop the critical skills needed to thrive in an increasingly interconnected and globally inclusive world.
Grant funds are intended to support school- or program-wide dual-language initiatives, including school resource and technology improvement, instructional support and professional development, and community and cultural engagement.

Eligibility

Schools eligible for the Read Conmigo School Impact Grant: Must be a Title I public or charter elementary school serving bilingual students in select locationsCalifornia: Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, and Ventura counties

Florida: Broward and Miami-Dade counties
Texas: Dallas and Hidalgo countiesMust have an established dual-language (Spanish-English) program with at least one year of implementation The following are eligible uses of the grant funds:School Resource and Technology Improvement -Eligible expenses may include books, library shelving and storage, software, educational resource subscriptions/purchases, tablets, computers, interactive smart boards, STEM-related materials, educational games, manipulatives, sensory tools, flexible seating, and resources for project-based learning initiatives.Instructional Support and Professional Development -Eligible expenses may include curriculum, instructional materials, workshops, training, speaker fees, conference registration, and conference travel and lodging.Community and Cultural Engagement -Eligible expenses may include family take-home resource kits, instruments, assembly expenses, speaker honorariums, art supplies, performance costumes, field trip transportation costs, and entrance fees to local museums and cultural centers.

Ineligibility

Schools cannot have received a Read Conmigo School Impact Grant in the previous school year.Principals cannot have an immediate family member employed by any of the Kemper family of companies, including Kemper Corporation, Kemper Auto, and Kemper LifeThe following are not eligible uses of the grant funds:General operations

Title I public or charter elementary schools with an established Spanish-English dual-language program (at least one year implemented) in Maricopa County AZ; Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino or Ventura County CA; Broward or Miami-Dade County FL; Cook County IL; Dallas, Harris or Hidalgo County TX. Principal applies; not a prior-year recipient. Applications January–March.
