Ray Charles Foundation Scholarship Grant

The Ray Charles Foundation Scholarship supports diversity in neurosciences by offering scholarships to third- or fourth-year undergraduate and graduate students from Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). Up to two students will gain valuable experience at Cedars-Sinai, with funding for housing and relocation. Eligible applicants include U.S. citizens or permanent residents aged 18 or older who are passionate about neuroscience and can arrange their accommodations in Los Angeles.

The Ray Charles Foundation (RCF), our program's largest donor, aims to promote and enhance diversity in neurosciences by emphasizing student participation from Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU).
These scholarships are for third- or fourth-year undergraduate students, graduate students and students currently enrolled in, or awaiting acceptance to, medical school or a residency program. As part of the foundation’s mission to empower young people through education, the scholarships support up to two students spending one year at Cedars-Sinai, gaining hands-on experience and learning from neuroscience leaders and mentors in a world-class facility.

• Funding

Scholars will receive an annual salary commensurate with their education and research experience, up to $6,000 annually to offset the cost of housing (prorated into an hourly rate added to their base hourly rate), and a sign-on bonus up to $4,000 to offset the cost of relocating to Los Angeles.

Eligibility

This scholarship is for applicants who have a passion for neuroscience and are:A U.S. citizen or permanent residentAged 18 or olderA third- or fourth-year undergraduate, graduate or medical student, or postgraduate student awaiting acceptance to medical school or a residency programAble to be in L.A. for the program period and arrange their own travel and living accommodationsPrevious awardees are also eligible to apply for a subsequent year.
