Fellowship Award The R2AC Fellowship Award is made possible the by generous support of the McKnight Foundation to provide unfettered funding to individual artists to fuel their art in Beltrami, Clearwater, Hubbard, Mahnomen, and Lake of the Woods counties in Minnesota. The goal of the Region 2 Arts Council (R2AC) Fellowship Program is to celebrate the region’s most talented artists and assist them in furthering and innovating their work by awarding financial support to fund creative time and facilitate depth and advancement in their art form. Through such support, the R2AC aims to honor and award artistic excellence and elevate the quality of artistic work in our region. The intent of the Fellowship Award is to honor and celebrate artists who show excellence and dedication to their artistic practice, and who also have one or more of the following: a substantial independent body of work previous arts awards or other acknowledgements performance, presentation, or publication of original work selection for commissions, festivals, or artist residencies selection for peer learning and exchange opportunities commercial music or video recordings of your work solo exhibitions, readings, or performances Funding Two $6,000 awards will be granted yearly to provide unfettered funding to fuel your art!Eligibility
You can learn more about this opportunity by visiting the funder's website. Region 2 Artist Fellows are dedicated and experienced individual artists in any arts discipline. These artists must be 21 years or older and physically reside in Minnesota’s Beltrami, Clearwater, Hubbard, Lake of the Woods, or Mahnomen County.The applicant must have lived there for at least one full year prior to application.The applicant must be a U.S. citizen or have resident alien status.The applicant must have created a substantial independent body of work, have received recognition for their work through development, production, or publishing opportunities or awards & their work has been selected for solo exhibitions, commissions, presentations, readings, or performances.Ineligibility
Artists who have received an R2AC Artist Fellowship or a Career Development Fellowship from Region 2 Arts Council in the past are not eligible to receive this award.The applicant must not use R2AC Artist Fellowship funds to relocate their legal address/residence outside of the state of Minnesota.The applicant must not be not enrolled as a full or part-time student in an artistic discipline at any institution of higher learning.The applicant must not a current member of the Anishinaabe Arts Initiative Council, the R2AC board or staff, or a member of their immediate family.If the applicant has received any Individual Artist Grants or Anishinaabe Arts Initiative Grants from R2AC, then they must have submitted and received approval for all Final Reports connected with those grant awards.The applicant is not in violation of any past contractual agreement with R2AC, such as an overdue final report from a previous R2AC grant.The applicant has not failed to return grant funds to R2AC after having any R2AC grant contracts/agreements terminated or funding revoked.The applicant is not seeking funding for classes, workshops or projects resulting in academic credit, tuition for academic coursework, teaching licensure, or continuing education requirements (CEUs) to retain teaching licensure.The applicant will not use the Fellowship award to donate to or assist in funding an organization, charity, or cause.Any activities funded by the Fellowship award are not intended to influence public policy or involve the religious socialization of the audience or participants.Focus Areas & Funding Uses
