Quality Improvement Incentive Grant

Purpose: Assists eligible 0-3 star child care facilities in increasing the quality of care provided to young children. Grant funds support the purchase of materials and resources used to increase low scores in any component of the Environment Rating Scale (ERS).

Geographic Scope: Pender County, North Carolina

Eligibility:

• Child care providers with 0-3 Star ratings
• Operating in Pender County

Focus Areas:

• Improving quality of care for young children
• Purchase of materials and resources for quality improvement
• Increasing Environment Rating Scale (ERS) scores

Technical Assistance Offered:

• Development of a Learning Environment Plan (LEP)
• Developing Creative Learning Spaces
• Curriculum Development/Lesson Planning
• Reaching Higher Scores on the Environment Rating Scale (ERS)
• Completing Start Rated License application
• Developing Policy Handbooks/Personnel Policies
• Mock ERS Assessment
