Pre-Apprentice Adirondack Chair Challenge

Overview: Annual competition where high school students in pre-apprenticeship programs design and build Adirondack chairs to showcase their craftsmanship and skills.

Geographic Scope: Eastern Ohio and Western Pennsylvania region (21 area school districts)

Focus Areas:

  • Hands-on construction project completion

  • Student craftsmanship and design skills

  • Confidence building through professional validation
  • Eligibility:

  • High school students enrolled in pre-apprenticeship programs

  • Participating schools across the region
  • Award Details:

  • Top three individual winners recognized during annual scholarship ceremony

  • School/team winners also acknowledged (top honors, second place, third place)

  • Student-built chairs are auctioned to the public

  • Proceeds from auction return to each school's pre-apprenticeship program

  • Recognition reinforces that students are on the right career track
