Post Assistance Grant

Grant offered exclusively to VFW Posts to offset expenses incurred for building repairs and equipment that enhance or restore the applicant organization's ability to serve veterans and their community.

Eligibility:

• VFW Posts only
• Cannot be applied for by: Auxiliaries, Districts, Departments, or other VFW subordinate organizations

Award Details:

• Up to $2,500 for qualifying projects
• Applicants are limited to receiving this grant once every three years

Eligible Expenses:

• Building repairs
• Equipment purchases that enhance or restore the Post's ability to serve veterans and community

Geographic Scope: United States

Application Availability: Grants are currently open

Important Notes:

• Reimbursement-based (applicants must complete projects and apply with proof of expenses)
• Applicants are encouraged to contact the VFW Foundation before starting a project to ensure it qualifies
• Grant eligibility is exclusive to VFW Posts. Nonprofits outside of the VFW cannot apply.

Application Process

Application Method: VFW Dashboard at VFW.ORG

Application Period: Generally accepted September through June 1, or until grant funding is exhausted

Required Materials:

• Proof of expenses
• Documentation of project completion
• Receipts and documentation for building repairs or equipment purchases

Steps:

1. Contact VFW Program Coordinator before starting project to ensure eligibility
2. Complete building repairs or equipment purchases
3. Gather all receipts and proof of expenses
4. Submit application through VFW dashboard with documentation

Frequency Limitation: Once every three years
